Even Idiot Mechanical Engineers can Benefit

Four years ago I went to work at a small company that designs and build electro-mechanical-optical equipment.  Several times a year, we’ need a small lot of simple circuit boards.  We used to spend a few thousand dollars for a contract EE to design and make boards for us. 

We got some cheap board design software and found Sunstone Circuits.  Now we design circuit boards in a few hours and get the boards back rapidly and cheaply from Sunstone.  We even use a circuit board as a structural member in one product.  Phenolic is a great material for structures!  The bottom line is that cheap board layout software and Sunstone has empowered even MEs to use circuit boards.
